I made a curved end to a wall
« on: October 18, 2013, 09:40:23 PM »
In our future bed room there are two walls that jut into the space to support the roof.  To avoid having sharp square edges that I am likely to knock my elbows on each time I pass them I decided on the ends of the walls being radiused.

I built up the ends of the walls with some timber and steel mesh to get the curve and then used bonding plaster to rough out the shape: Photo 1.
That was best part of 18 months ago, before I ruptured my Achilles tendon.

Then we plastered the rest of the room a couple of months ago, with the help of a friend, leaving the curved bits til last.

Today my friend came over and we took on a wall each and plastered the curved ends.  I think the results are pretty good for a first time for amateur plasterers at 'not flat' surfaces.

You're making a house!

Flippin' 'eck! What scale of project do you take on when you're not recovering from injury?!

Well, one needs a home to live in and, shortly,  a marital bedroom!

The railway is a little bigger, overall. ;)
